Let's Name This Method
We want a name that hints at the value of the method, that speaks to decision-makers
Hi everyone! I’m hosting four z(4) Community Working Sessions the week of 22-January-2024, where we get to discuss the merits of changing the name of the method from “problem space research” to something else that might help more teams get budget/permission to use it. We’ve tried a few Slack-based sessions. Now I’d like to move to a group Mural Board where during the working sessions we can see potential words, add more words (in a variety of languages!) and play around with combining words into a name for this method.
Our goal for the new name is to communicate or hint at what value results for teams, orgs, and the people their solutions support.
Another goal for the name is to appeal to people’s sense of curiosity or interest. Whose curiosity or interest? People who “speak the language of business,” from the more community-oriented language of some organizations to the acquisitive language of late capitalism with its growth-at-any-cost philosophy. These are the people who have thwarted our efforts to build problem space knowledge for their advantage. So bring your deep understanding of (and respect for) their perspective to our working sessions.
You can join one, two, three, four, or none of the working sessions. You can drop in or out as your daily life requires. Each session is 1.5 hours but might stop before that, depending on how stuck we get.
Here’s the schedule, the zoom links, and below that, the link to the Mural Board that we’ll work with during each working session.

I hope to see you at one of the meetings!
Note: I arrived on SubStack just as it has become evident that the founders of Substack encourage authors who write hateful things about whole groups of people. At the same time, these founders will remove any porn/child-porn. So the founders certainly have decided in favor of hate speech, which I do not support.
I am not paying these founders one cent. Neither are you, at least not via my newsletter here. I hope that I can make use of their platform only for my occasional newsletter. I hope you drop your paid subscriptions via this platform, to show that you do not value the founder’s support for hate speech.
I wish other platforms charged by the number of newsletters sent per year, but they don’t. Yet. On the other platforms it winds up costing me about a hundred dollars per newsletter because I send so few. I am waiting for them to see the chance to support me.
